Exceptional Athenian tripod table in chased, gilded and patinated bronze and zoned onyx.
The removable top is encircled by a wide gadroon frieze embellished with acanthus leaves and grapevines.
It stands on an antique-style tripod base embellished with lion paws, joined by a brace decorated with a fire pot.

The sculptor Eugène Cornu (1827-1875), was a draughtsman and works manager for the Tahan company. From 1858 onwards, in close collaboration with the Compagnie des Marbres Onyx d'Algérie, they created highly luxurious decorative works combining onyx with bronze and enamel.
