GOUJON (JACQUES-FLORENT). HISTORY AND VOYAGE OF THE HOLY-EAR - Lot 99
GOUJON (JACQUES-FLORENT). HISTORY AND VOYAGE OF THE HOLY-EARTH SAINTE, OU TOUT CE QU'IL Y A DE PLUS REMARQUABLE DANS LES SAINTS LIEUX, EST TRÈS-EXACTEMENT DÉCRIT. Lyon, Pierre Compagnon Robert Taillandier, 1670. The edition is illustrated with a fold-out map of the Holy Land drawn by Goujon, as well as 16 fold-out plates (old and new Jerusalem, plans of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, plan of the Church of Bethlehem, etc.). (As is). Jacques Goujon (1621-1693) was a fur trader before becoming a religious of the Observance of St. Francis. He made two trips to the Holy Land in 1636 and 1666, which gave him the material for this book, in which he offers a history and description of this part of the world through 23 visits, the last of which are devoted to Egypt.
