Intaglio representing Minerva-Hygia, after G. Pichler Helmeted Minerva standing left, giving a snake a drink from a cup. In the right field, the letters PICLER. Glass imitating carnelian on an agate base. 2.3 x 1.4cm Very fine style. Copy of a sardonyx by Giovanni Pichler (1734-1791), faithfully reproducing one of the bas-reliefs of a candelabra in the Vatican Museums, from the time of Hadrian, known as the Barberini Candelabra.
