JAPAN, early 19th century Large IMARI polychrome porcelain coffee pot with Black Ship decoration. Depicts on the body, in a central medallion, the *"Black Ship" of NAGASAKI and Dutch characters. Height: 34.5cm * Name given at the end of the 16th century by the Japanese to the Portuguese ships, which set sail from Goa to NAGASAKI for commercial exchanges.
