Ritual headdress or ''turban headdress'' in braided silk, called ''elephant headdress'', mounted with numerous cabochons and elements of carnelian, agate, turquoise, black stone, freshwater pearls and seeds. Some stones damaged. Ladakh, 20th century. Height: 17 cm. This traditional headdress is worn by women in western Ladakh; the two side pendants may be missing. A similar headdress belonging to the Antoine de Galbert collection, presented at the Voyage dans ma tête exhibition at the Maison Rouge in Paris.
