Alphonse Giroux (1799-1881), in the taste of A large platter consisting of a circular enameled copper dish decorated in reserves with court scenes on a midnight-blue background, embellished with vases, butterflies and flowering branches. Superb chased gilt bronze mounting with Greek decor and 4 Moors in loincloths supporting the dish. Height: 17.8cm; Diameter: 46.5cm The house of Alphonse Giroux was one of the most successful Parisian luxury stores of the 19th century. Like the great mercer merchants of the Ancien Régime, it sold small items of cabinetry, tableware and bimbeloterie.
