CHERUBINS, 18th century Two altar cherubs called "offering cherubs" in silver embossed and chased that can be paired. The first one : Repousse decoration representing on four branches the four Evangelists and their symbols, alternated by branches decorated with seraphim with spread wings on a plant and flowery background. In the center, a Seraphim with spread wings. Node of the shaft surmounted by a cherub's head. The second : Repoussé decoration on four branches representing the Tetramorph. In alternation, four branches decorated of flowers and plants intertwined. In the center: a Seraph with spread wings. Node of the shaft surmounted by a cherub's head. On the reverse side, dated dedication for a church near Athens, Greece. Late 18th century. Height : 42 cm. Weight : 600 gr.
