BP Crash, 1994 Sculpture in blue, yellow and red lacquered sheet metal. 210 x 45 x 45 cm With purchase invoice, 1997. Purchased directly from the artist. Purchase price: 20,000 francs. (Wear) BP refers to a group of three artists formed in Nice in 1984 and now disbanded. The two letters implicitly refer to the world-famous multinational British Petroleum. Indeed, the collective's plastic vocabulary borrows from the world of petroleum: used oil (seen as a substitute for paint, and whose shiny, viscous qualities BP exploits), drums, car body parts, pipes, advertising slogans and logos. Artists' collective composed of Richard Bellon, Renaud Layrac Frédéric Pohl All their exhibitions can be viewed at www.bp-officialsite.com.
